Uwe Boll's '23 Years Later': The Unofficial House of the Dead Sequel - Everything We Know! (2026)

Uwe Boll, the cult B-movie director, is back with a new zombie horror film, 23 Years Later: The Castle of the Dead. This film is an unofficial sequel to his 2003 video game adaptation, House of the Dead, and is set to begin production in Germany on September 5. The film will star Jonathan Cherry and Ona Grauer, the original stars of House of the Dead, and will be directed by Boll from a script co-written by Lutz Geiger. The film is set to be a castle-based zombie horror, with Boll keeping the plot under wraps, but promising a bloody and gory take on the genre. While the film has no official connection to the Sega House of the Dead video game, Boll is known for his mockbusters and has been critical of Paul W.S. Anderson's upcoming reboot of the franchise, calling it a soulless CGI orgy. Boll's Event Films has also optioned the film rights to the survival horror video game series Alone in the Dark, another of his early video game adaptations. With multiple projects in the works, Boll's prolific output continues to surprise and delight fans of his unique brand of B-movie entertainment.
